As you drive from Hermanus towards the Garden Route, it just gets better. In Mossel Bay and Jeffreys Bay, it’s perfect surf weather, and in Addo, the elephants are extra active.

Summer – December to March

This period features warm days and significant rain in some regions. December is peak season due to the local summer holiday – expect crowds on the Garden Route and higher prices. It’s a great time for a beach holiday, but for the ultimate road trip in South Africa, there are better times.

Autumn – April to May

Autumn is also perfect for a road trip in South Africa! Mild temperatures, beautiful autumn colors, and wonderfully quiet. The summer crowds are gone, and the winter chill hasn’t set in yet. No wonder we plan our trips during this time.

We take care of everything behind the scenes and on-site in South Africa: practical matters, navigation, camping gear, accommodations, and optional extras like activities and a surf package.
